10 Best Places to Visit in Villahermosa

It is the capital of Tabasco state that lies in a shallow depression about an hour’s drive from the Gulf Coast. Villahermosa is one of the most expensive cities in the country. The place is at the confluence of two rivers- the Grijalva and the Carrizal.

It makes the city susceptible to flooding and the land is marshy with shallow lakes scattered to and fro. The whole year it’s hot and humid. The historic center has been left to decay.

Palenque and Cascades of Roberto Barrios

The main attraction at the Palenque site is amazing. Confirmation will be received at time of booking. This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. Service animals allowed.

All is a great itinerary with a great guide. The location is near public transportation. Not recommended for pregnant travelers. Only your group will participate with you.

Chichonal Volcano Tour

The Volcan is amazing. Air-conditioned private transportations is available. Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level. You will have the chance to climb down in the caldera on the green lake shores. Photographs and Video are excellent to shoot at.

Sima de las Cotorras

The sink hole is beautiful. Parrots fly in and out. There’s convenient parking at the site entrance and a modest entry fee that we paid to the lady waiting in the hut. The Sima is a fascinating hole in the ground with a forest in the bottom with a nice circuit path for walking around the upper rim.

The birds are only there for their early morning departure and their evening return. It’s a slow dirt road for the last several km. You can rappel down. This is the only way to get to the bottom. 

Museo Regional de Antropología

The Villahermosa is an excellent regional anthropology museum in many aspects. Tortuguero, Maya, Zoque cultures in Tabasco, Olmec and Nahua complets the joy.  It’s housed in a nice, even shiny modern building.

The CICOM complex is a 15-minute walk from Zona Luz and is situated just south of the Paseo Tabasco bridge. You can have some stunning exhibits over there. 

Yumká Zoo in Villahermosa

This Tabascan is a safari park. It is located 4km past the airport. Yumká is divided into jungle, savanna and lake zones. It represents Tabasco’s three main ecosystems. Howler monkeys, jaguars, scarlet macaws and toucans can be found In the jungle zone.

In the African section, we are going to have giraffes, elephants, zebras and hippos. Asian section is full of deer, antelope, buffalo. The park is recovered nicely and the animals are much better cared for.

Museo de Historia de Tabasco

For the beautiful tiles that cover the building, the museum is called the House of Tiles, housed in a variety of ancient documents, artifacts and historical records.

The place will teach insight into the nation’s history and values. Practice your Spanish a little bit more to have the fullest benefit out of it. Most of the guides are experienced in Spanish. 

Museo Interactivo Papagayo
